Wheelwright Baptist Center

The Wheelwright Baptist Center began in February 1986 to reach the communities in the southern part of Floyd County.

The Kentucky Baptist Convention and the North American Mission Board and the First Baptist Church of Wheelwright joined together to reach out in a new ministry in Appalachia.  In 1999 the First Baptist Church gave their building to the Kentucky Baptist Convention to allow greater support of the ministry.

Today Charles Wilson and his wife Marjorie Ann serve as NAMB missionaries at the Wheelwright Baptist Center.  They have lead the Center to develop many ministries designed to meet the physical and spiritual needs within their area.

The ministries include:

  • Emergency food

  • Fire emergency assistance

  • Sewing classes

  • Home Repair projects

  • Sports Camps

  • Music Choirs

  • Senior Adult ministry

  • Amazing Grace Cafe

  • David Appalachian Crafts Ministry

There are many mission volunteer opportunities at the Baptist Center year-round.  Housing is available for teams of 20 to 25.  Click here for a list of the current volunteer mission opportunities.
