have a need for Farm workers - fencing, carpentry, chainsaw work
(clearing of small trees) and for Workers at the Friendship
House (clothing ministry - sorting clothes). Help is especially
needed during the months of January - March. Housing and meals

NEWS FROM OBI
Students Celebrate
Diversity At Oneida Baptist Institute Culture Fair
By Tamara Cochran, OBI publications
One of the things that makes Oneida Baptist Institute unique is the
diversity among the student body and an appreciation for these
differences. This year OBI has 29 international students from 10
different countries. This number is up from the normal 15-20
students.
Four years ago the Student Government Association initiated the
Culture Fair as an annual event to give international students a
forum to share their cultures with their American peers. At the
Culture Fair, food is the main focus, but students may also dress in
native garb and prepare other visual displays for their tables. Some
even play musical recordings from their countries. This year 12
countries were represented by 16 groups.
The SGA pairs participants with OBI staff members, and students
prepare their dishes in the kitchens of these adult sponsors. This
activity is always well attended by the staff and student body.

In the picture, sophomore Dee Dee
Torbert helped freshman Ye-Ra Han and sophomore Hae-Jin Bae put the
finishing touches on their food for the OBI Culture Fair. The Korean
students prepared some of the fair's most exotic dishes, including
sushi and squid.
