Mountain Missions
Development Corporation
The Mountain
Missions Development Corporation (MMDC) is an
interdenominational, non-profit, 501-c-3 corporation that is
independent from all others organization and agencies but works
in cooperation with all entities and resources for the benefit
of the people of Eastern Kentucky.
MMDC works closely
with Southern Baptist churches, associations, and ministry
centers across the 47 eastern Kentucky counties they serve.
MMDC is located on
the site of the former CAP (Christian Appalachian Project)
Center in Berea, KY, and is continuing and expanding the
ministries started by CAP. The Baptist Food Ministry Warehouse
is operated by the Tates Creek and Rockcastle Baptist
Associations.
Dr. Morris Norfleet
is president of MMDC and serves with a board of directors
representing a broad range of background experiences,
geographically located throughout Kentucky, dedicated to serving
people.
Purpose:
The Mountain
Missions Development Corporation focuses on the Appalachian
community by helping individuals achieve an abundant life in
Christ.
Mission
Statement:
The MMDC is an
outreach ministry with the mission to receive gifts of property,
cash, and other assets, to manage for the benefit of the people
of eastern Kentucky to meet their education, economic, social,
emotional and spiritual needs by creating jobs and to give them
hope through God's provisions and love.
Jesus said, "I have
come that they might have life, life in its fullness" (John
10:10).
Goal:
Improve education,
economic, social and spiritual condition to create a better life
for the people of Eastern Kentucky.
Objectives:

Develop
intergenerational social service and job skills training
centers.

Develop early
childhood centers.

Develop homes
for single parents, unwed mothers, and assisted living
centers.

Provide opportunities for spiritual
growth through conference and retreats.

Develop rehabilitation centers.
