For information on volunteer missions needs and service opportunities throughout the Appalachian Regional Ministry region click here.

The Greater Huntington Baptist Association covers three complete counties in West Virginia and parts of three other counties (Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln, Mason, Logan, and Putnam).

The largest city in the Association is Huntington, home of Marshall University and the "Thundering Herd." 

Approximately 75% of the people living in the ministry area of the GHBA are unchurched.  The association has 10 churches and 1 new church start in Barboursville.

In 2007 the association is focusing on starting a new church(es) in Wayne County in the area around the towns of Wayne, Lavalette, Prichard, Fort Gay, and Salt Rock.  There is NO SBC work in these towns.  The are also focusing on helping strengthen the new church start in the Barboursville/Milton area. 

A number of Volunteer mission opportunities are available:

  • Prayer Walks

  • Community Surveys

  • Back Yard Bible Clubs

  • Block Parties

  • Servant Evangelism Projects

Prayer Request:

  • For a church planter(ers) who can raise their own support

  • For God to lead the GHBA to the right people as they do the initial work in Wayne County.

  • For the salvation of the lost (75% of the county is unchurched).

  • For the community to be receptive to Southern Baptists.
