Church Planter Urgent Prayer Request:

Freedom Baptist Church is a new church start in the Kanawha City area of Charleston, WV. God has given Rev. Jimmy and his wife Jennifer Morton (Rev. James Lee Morton, Jr. & Mrs. Jennifer Dawn Morton) a passion for the people of the Kanawha City area of Charleston, WV to establish His church in the region.

Most people may think that Jimmy and Jennifer were discouraged because they started with no land and no building. On the contrary, Jimmy was excited. Jimmy Morton was quoted as saying, “I cannot wait to see what God has planned for Freedom Baptist Church. When you step out in faith there are always some uncertainties. However, when I have uncertainties, I focus on Jesus Christ to help me. I trust God to provide for me.”

Jimmy Morton returned to West Virginia with his wife, Jennifer Morton, and daughter, Anna Grace Morton. Jimmy came back in June (2005) to West Virginia after being gone for 14 years. Jimmy Morton was noted saying, “I feel at home.”

Jimmy and Jennifer Morton love the people of West Virginia and the mountains. God has given them a burden to come back and plant a Southern Baptist Church. Jimmy and Jennifer feel there is a great need to serve the people of West Virginia. God has given them a passion for a Kanawha City area church.

Jimmy Morton grew up in Charleston, WV and graduated from Charleston High School in 1985. Jimmy earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Studies from Gardner-Webb University, as well as a Master of Divinity Degree with Biblical Languages from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jimmy is currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry Degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Please, pray that God will place it on the heart of churches or individuals to provide support for the Kanawha City area of Charleston, WV church plant.
